Performance of MET reconstruction in CMS
نویسنده
چکیده
The performance of missing transverse momentum reconstruction algorithms is presented using 8 TeV pp collision data collected with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity up to 19.7 fb−1. The resolution of missing transverse momentum, including the effects of pileup interactions and advanced reconstruction algorithms, are measured using events with an identified Z boson or isolated photon.

Jets and Missing Transverse Energy Reconstruction with CMS
We report on the current simulation studies regarding the reconstruction of Jets and Missing Transverse Energy (MET) with the CMS detector at the CERN proton-proton LHC accelerator. The performance of various jet algorithms is compared, when using calorimeter energy deposits as inputs to the algorithm. The plan for obtaining jet energy corrections is outlined and data-driven correction methods ...
متن کاملTrack Reconstruction Performance in CMS
The expected performance of track reconstruction with LHC events using the CMS silicon tracker is presented. Track finding and fitting is accomplished with Kalman Filter techniques that achieve efficiencies above 99% on single muons with pT >1 GeV/c. Difficulties arise in the context of standard LHC events with a high density of charged particles, where the rate of fake combinatorial tracks is ...
متن کاملPerformance of photon reconstruction and identification with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV
A description is provided of the performance of the CMS detector for photon reconstruction and identification in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV at the CERN LHC. Details are given on the reconstruction of photons from energy deposits in the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) and the extraction of photon energy estimates. The reconstruction of electron tracks from ph...
متن کاملSearch for supersymmetry in top final states at CMS
A search for SUSY using the top quark plus missing transverse energy (MET), in a low mass mSUGRA test point is performed. A two–constraints kinematic fit is utilized to extract the top quark, either b-jet the ones that is recognizable or it is not recognizable. It is shown that for point LM1, for the former situation, a 5σ excess can be achieved with 30 pb-1 and for the latter situation, it can...
متن کاملSimulation of Misalignment Scenarios for CMS Tracking Devices
This document describes the simulation of the misalignment scenarios for the CMS tracking devices in the framework of the CMS reconstruction package ORCA. We provide first estimates of the expected alignment uncertainties at different stages of the CMS operation, which can be used to study the impact of misalignment on the tracking performance. A few examples of this impact of misalignment on t...
